Dr. John Parker was born and raised in Denver City, Texas. After completing his undergraduate degree, he worked in the computer software industry for 9 years. During that time he earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Texas at Dallas, and in 1999 he was one of the founders of an educational software company which developed an award winning microbiology laboratory simulation used in healthcare education. In 2003, he left his software career and returned to the classroom to pursue a doctor of medicine degree at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. He completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and was awarded the 2010-2011 Riverside Obstetrics & Gynecology Community Care Resident Excellence Award for his commitment to excellence in the care of his patients in his residency program. You may also recognize Dr. Parker from his appearances in the Lifetime TV series One Born Every Minute that was filmed at Riverside Methodist Hospital during his residency.

Dr. John Parker has an interest in all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, but has a special interest in preconception counseling and obstetric care.

During the first prenatal visit, patients are provided personalized education regarding pregnancy and delivery. They can also share their expectations for the labor and delivery experience. Dr. Parker’s philosophy on care is collaboration and open communication; this helps the patient understand the process prior to the big day while never losing sight of the shared goal of a healthy baby and healthy mother.

Dr. Parker works closely with his patients to help them understand the physiologic changes of menopause and to navigate the menopause transition. He believes that menopause treatment requires an individualized as opposed to a “one size fits all” approach.

When medical management has been exhausted and surgery is necessary for the treatment of a gynecologic problem, Dr. Parker seeks a minimally invasive option that will allow the patient to minimize time away from work and other commitments.

Dr. Parker resides with his “better half” in Hilliard, and they have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Winston. When Dr. Parker is not at work, he enjoys spending time with friends and family and traveling.

Dr. Parker looks forward to the opportunity to be a part of your personal healthcare team as an advisor to help you to achieve your wellness goals. Dr. Parker is accepting new patients.
